You're Perfect, Right?

I may be a seminary student, attending what other's call the Harvard of Texas, and daily being saturated with God's Word everywhere you go.  We've got it together, right?

There's chapel; chapel is like having church every day, which, is in of itself, a great blessing, and then professor's ,who process the love of God to all the student's here, and in turn, a community who reaches out to help those in need.  It's a perfect environment, right?

I profess that seminary has been one of the hardest endeavors in my life.  I foolishly thought that by going to seminary, all these sins, these distractions, would go away..on the contrary, it has only escalated.

Temptations are everywhere; destroying my witness for Him whom I serve is a constant everyday struggle-sometimes, hearing the Word has become so mundane, that i'm only in it for the grades, when in reality, what the professor's really desire is for us to grow in our love for Him while learning about Him.

Satan likes to destroy our witness for Him; remember, it's not flesh and blood that we're fighting against, it's the principalities of this world-remember too, that even though we have a God who we cannot physically see, know that He is there-know that it is faith that He wants from You-his loyalty to Him, your love for Him, but know too, that when you mess up, He'll always be there.

Seminary students aren't perfect; we sin, we're like everybody else who struggles; we get angry, we fall to temptation, we fall to sin, but we learn, we get up, we ask for forgiveness, and we move on knowing that we have conquered that day.

School work verses ministry?  That's always a struggle; there's this temptation to focus so much on school work that you might as well neglect ministry all together; maybe focus on ministry after you graduate? Nah!  It's actually in the now! that's how you apply what you are learning-you do it through ministry in the now, not later!  How many more chances will we ever get to serve our God?

Seminary will always be a struggle, a daily struggle actually-and know that we don't have it all together, we're not perfect, walking beings just because we're seminarians, we're humans, and we're normal, just like you.
