Dear after lunch feeling,
While lunch was spectacular, the struggle of staying awake never ceases to surprise me during this hour. The time comes a halt. My eyelids begin to droop as my brain tells me that it's time for a siesta. And though that sounds so inviting, considering the fact that I have a very comfortable couch 25 yards away, my work does not allow it-and so the struggle begins. What does one do when their stomach is full, beyond its capacity and their brain is commanding them to close those eyes and lay that head on that wooden hard surface, covered by paper? What does one do when they begin to yawn? What does one do when emails and phone calls ceases? What does one do?
One traipse's along the deep recesses of the hallway; one exercises their calf muscles by doing calf lifts-or so, that's what I do. It keeps me awake during this hour of dread and sleepiness. One stands outside the sidewalk, basking in the heat of the sun. One dusts the bookshelves. One organizes the files. One prepares for the upcoming semester. But what if, one has done all?
...one wonders what others do at this dreaded, foreboding hour.
